Lightning at Legends!
LOTC returned to Yakama Legends Casino to another great crowd of over 2000 fans. The show featured 12 fights with a international match up for the UMMA 120 lbs female Title with defending champion Sally Krumdiak 8-1 of Washington taking on the undefeated Hiroko Kitamura 4-0 of Japan. Kitamura traveled all the way from Japan to take on the American favorite but the crowd of 2000 gave her a very warm welcome when she made a very colorful entrance into the cage. The fight started fast with Kitamura taking the action to Krumdiak at the sound of the bell as both fighters stayed on their feet kicking knees and throwing shoulders while pinning each other up against the cage . The fight was even while they were on their feet but once the fight went to the ground Krumdiak took command as she was the stronger fighter of the two. She pinned Kitamura on her back up against the cage and fired off punishing shots to the face of of game but over powered Kitamura. The referee stepped in and saved Kitamura from taking any further punishment as Sally Krumdiak successfully defended her title and looks towards her next big fight. Fans should keep an eye on Sally as she is quickly becoming one of the top fighters in the sport.
In the co-feature the extremely talented and charismatic Ben "Flat Top" Foder took on Fernando Cornona in a rematch of their very exciting fight from last summer at 170 lbs. In the first fight Corona took charge and was leading on the score cards until Foder pulled off a spectacular scissors leg submission. There was a lot of tension between these two fighters at the weigh in and at the sound of the bell this fight started fast with Corona coming right to Foder. However, Corona's aggression was handled well by Foder who ended this fight suddenly with a devasting knee to the ribs of Corona who could not continue to the dismay of the crowd. Corona, a home town favorite was visibly upset after the fight but it is clear after two fights that Foder is the better fighter. Like Sally Krumdiak fans really should keep a track on Foder's career as he is truly talented and fun to watch. Fans will always be entertained when Foder is in the cage.
Forrest Griffin was also on hand to the delight of the 2000 fans as he signed autographs for over two hours! Griffin is truly a gentlemen and a great representative of the the sport.
The next Lightining at Legends is on July 31, 2010 with Cain Velasquez as the celebrity guest.
